mary on January 12, 2003

Hi Mary. Glad to see you pop in. We hope you have a great new year and return often.

Brianm on January 13, 2003

The pic of Mom and her mother and Trisha and Laura would have been taken shortly after mom's dad died. I think it is of mom's first communion, the famous dress from Boston. I am surprised you had never seen that before, dad, I am sure, has a copy of it at home. I have seen it many times. Laura was just a baby, not quite a year old, when their dad died, which is why I believe it was after that. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. TTFN, Melodie

Melodie on January 21, 2003

Really enjoy your family web-site Brian. Keep up the great work!

Matthew&Brandy on March 13, 2003

Great new look brian. Looks very professional.

Melodie on March 21, 2003

Well, I'm glad you like it. This is what we have to work with now. It doesn't seem too bad after all. I am still poking around trying to see just what all the new options are. Wish me luck.
BTW Melodie, would you mind checking to see what recipes you may have of Mom's? It doesn't matter if they are sweets or main courses as long as they are dishes she would have made on a regular basis (or at Christmas).
I would like to start a 'Family Recipe' page. So if there are any recipes you cook that are family favorites please add them as well. Thanks!!

Brianm on March 23, 2003

Brian, I don't cook, therefore don't have any recipies, but bob has all the recipie books that were moms, I figured since he would use them, and I had no room to put them, I left them there when we lived there. So if you need any of them, he should have whatever you need TTFN Melodie

Becky on April 13, 2003

I think your site is great. You don't know me but I got the joke Never Lie to your Mom, from a friend of mine. Anyway, I was wondering if you could tell me about any other things in Glace Bay, although I have not been there, my inlaws are from there. They moved to Ontario many many years ago and I was just wondering if you knew the name. The mom and dad in the family that I'm talking about are Caraletta and Alaxander MacDonald. They had four kids 3 girls and 1 son. the kids names are RoseMary, Katherene, Ann, Heather and Malcolm. If you can give me any info I would enjoy reading it. Also have you ever heard of the Gabriel Name? I father use to work there many years ago in the mines I think. His name was Douglas

amanda on May 13, 2003

what kind of chat or talk is this?

amanda jane on May 13, 2003

Hey again. I figured I'd catch you guys up on some late-breaking developements. I am now not going overseas as I had hoped. The tour was shut down on us. I have my papers for regular force now, and am contemplating whether or not I should go Navy, or Airforce. (I was abord the HMCS Glace Bay last week... how about that Dad??) I may be moving soon, to Dartmouth hopefully. I am also currently looking after 3 yr old Kayla, and 2 yr old Tyler for a friend, full time. It's a patience job, but so far so good; they're cool kids. Thank you VERY much for the B-Day preasent Dad. I appreciated it a whole ton. I couldn't call yo about it because I now have no phone. Say hey to everyone for me, and I'll try to contact you fellers soon. Love you guys. P.S. I really like the counter on how many people are on the site. Too cool. Ciao.

Lee on May 13, 2003

@ Amanda Jane...I'm sorry, but this is neither a chat or a talk page. This is just a page where you can post a message, comment or just say 'HI, I was here'. We have a message board where you can start a thread of your own or reply to a thread someone else has posted. We also have a 'chat room' where you can talk to whom ever else is on...real time (much like MSN or Yahoo).
Thank you for visiting our site and I hope you return often and use whatever features here you wish.
@Lee...NP on the b-day gift. Thanks...I like the '# of people on the site' feature to. Kind of neat eh? I hope you continue to be able to leave messages here, or on the message board, until you get settled. Take care, I love and miss you...talk to you soon....Dad. PS- The Glace Bay..lol....how cool is that?

Brianm on May 13, 2003

TinmanDave aka Dave Pratt on June 1, 2003

So nice of you to stop by Dave. Glad you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for the kind words..quite a compliment to see you stayed so long. Did you have a chance to check out the 'drink & quote' page? I hope you come back often. Tell your friends...lol.

Good to see you stop in Rod. Will see you later in the summer for sure. Thanks for the compliment 'he who walks...', we strive to be different here.

Brianm on June 23, 2003

Excellent job on the family tree. I have a little history of my ancestry as well. Nothing like this. Thoroughly enjoyed taking the time to read it. I currently reside in Clearwater Florida. Have 2 brothers in Canada. My fathers name is David, grandfather Arnold (deceased). Have always been under the impression our line stems from Duncan MacVicar. Could easily be wrong.Drop me a line if interested. DILLIGAFBUDDY@AOL.COM

Sean MacVicar on June 23, 2003

So nice to read about the clan! Melodie gave me a printout of the family history. Gee, you never know who you're related to!! I am going to forward the site address to my siblings Diane, Ross and Karen, as they will be interested in it also. A big "hello" to my high school buddy Brian. It's been awhile. If we ever have another reunion, you will have to attend.

Dawn on June 24, 2003

Well hello Dawn. My god girl, it has been a while indeed. How are things. I'm glad you had a chance to look around in here. I hope you like it. Can't wait to see your sibs names in here, although I don't think I ever met any of them. I would love to know when (if) there is another reunion. I just hope I'm still walking then...lol. I hope you are doing well. Drop me an e-mail sometime...my addy is all over this place.

Brianm on June 24, 2003

My grandfather was Adam Mcvicars he was originally from Bannockburn, Scotland. He moved to Canada and lived in Toronto, then he moved back to Scotland. I am related to John and Ann Mcvicars. I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and I now live in Brisbane, Australia. My mother is Margaret Mcvicars who lives in Brisbane, Australia now as well.

Angela Gillan on July 1, 2003

Hey Dad, another update for my many fans or curious relatives.... I finally got my Componant Transfer in for Regular Force with the military. Long time coming, but better late than never. If all goes well, and according to plan (not likely with the military...) I should be basking in Reg force land by next January. I am still looking after the chillen', they're awesome kids. The whole "Angela" thing, about "future family".... pay no attention to those with no brains. She's a head case and no friend of mine. (Harsh, I know). Anyway, off for the summer and broke as a joke to boot. Hopefully I'll be back on or over to visit sometime soon. Ciau all, and much love.

Lee on July 7, 2003

Helloooo Lee. How's it going? Glad to see the military finally sees you are there...lol. Jan. eh? It will come sooner than you think. I'm glad the 'chillen' are treating you well....good experience for the faaaar away future. Speaking of future....what is that Angela thing you mentioned? I don't/didn't see anything. What did I miss this time...lol. Any way...good to see you come in. We hope you can make it over some time soon as well. Give us a call some time...you know the routine (collect). I love you and miss you Lee. Talk soon.....Dad.

Brianm on July 8, 2003

Is everyone sending their money on in for the yearly payment? I hope all you visitors send it quickly ... i think any donation will do !!! (lol)
Posted by "ANONYMOUS" on July 10,2003
As you know Mark, any donation would be greatly appreciated from any of our 'members'. It's unfortunate you were not able to become a member last year. However, as I said many times, you are more than welcome to contribute.

That said, it's good to see you still check out the site once or twice a week. I hope things are getting better for you and I hope your family is doing ok. Do come again.

Brianm on July 10, 2003

Brian i still chuckle to think that you are still asking money from people to maintain your hobby! Quite interesting. When I speak to others in the family they are of the same thinking... no names to be mentioned though. Family and money just dont mix ! Hope that gives you something to think about! the Mark ster!!!!

markster! on July 11, 2003

Just thought i would come on and mention something else. I really like the concept of the site and what it has been doing but the admin part of it should be kept to itself. A good boss does what it takes to get the job done, the people invovled should not have to worry about the upkeep and continuance. Ive never had an issue with the site and I will continue coming in to see how it is ... just I guess you could say a lack of respect for it owner. mark

mark on July 12, 2003

Mark....'Your' opinion is noted and has been for some time. However, it is also know it is not the opinion of many. It was other members who reminded me of the up-coming deadline. I can understand how you could be confused in thinking this is my hobby. It is but one of the many things I do in the run of a day/week/month. If you think back to a year ago you will remember I was ready to either pass the site to someone else, let it die or continue....if the support was there. It is quite obvious the support was and is there. This site continues to recieve 15-20 different visitors a day....some returning several times a day. Even you (one who swore never to come here again) come in 1-2 times a week...some weeks 3 times. So to me it shows there are those who do want to see what is new or going on in the family and on the site. This is the exact reaction I was hoping for in the beginning. All I have been asking, from the beginning, is that others assume some of the responsibility of upkeep and posting of info. There is no benefit or personal gain to this. Just a good idea for a family spread out all over trying to keep up with what the other is doing. Any of the paid or unpaid family members can have info posted here. Any paid members can have say in what does or does not get posted, or post it on their own. When you say "A good boss does what it takes to get the job done, the people invovled should not have to worry about the upkeep and continuance." I see more of the confusion concerning the site. I am the boss of nothing here. Nor is anyone else. 'Collectively' we as a family control this site. 'Those involved' wishing to exercise their share of control are quite free to do so. Those not wishing to do so have not. In the past I offered full control to many...you are one...and all said they thought I should continue. Many have expressed interest in sharing in the duties....some have done so. All by choice....as you have chosen. I will say the same to you this year as last....If you feel like contributing...great. If you do 'not' feel like contributing that is fine as well. Again you choice. You say "I really like the concept of the site and what it has been doing but the admin part of it should be kept to itself.". Thank you for the 'support', but the 'admin' part is the responsibility of many. I, for the most part, have been doing it all. I could use the help of others. Why should the site reflect the thoughts and ideas of only one? If you, or anyone, dissagree with how it is done....step up to the plate. Actions speak better than words. It is no secret that I alone cannot afford to maintain the financial end of the site. Last year we were fortunate to have about half of the amount covered by other family members. I am hoping that at least that amount will be realized this year as well. Thank you for again sharing your views and opinions. Do come again.

Hey all, how is your summer going? Probably not as foggy as old Saint John. The site is still looking great ,of course, Brian give yourself a big pat on the back. I would also like to like to extend my thanks to Wayne Mcvicar who took the time and expense of researching our family history in Cape Breton as well as in Scotland. Now as far all of this bikkering going back and forth between different members of the family enough already. If someone makes a comment that seems offensive to someone else, ignore it. Please stop fueling the fire. We should all be very thankful that we have a site to keep in contact with family members that we would normally not keep in cantact with. Throughout my life I wished that I knew the McVicar side of my family better and know I have a place to get to know them better. So regardless of who is paying the bills, researching the info, and administering the site lets try to keep our opinions to ourselves.

Guest Book #2

THIS GUEST BOOK RAN FROM JULY 21, 2003 - JANUARY 31, 2004.

Hi all! I wanted to thank you for all the family information you put on your web site. I have been researching my McQueen ancestors, and have gotten back as far as Donald MacQueen and Margaret MacVicar on North Uist (a probability mentioned by Mr. Bill Lawson). I then found your site, and this explained much that was in a letter written by Murdoch MacLeod to my ancestor John McQueen in 1888. Murdoch was from Cape Breton, and had living with him his father in law, who I believe is the Rory "Pomona" McQueen, mentioned on your web site. Murdoch was married to Euphemia McQueen, daughter of Rory Pomona. Since Murdoch calls John "cousin", this lends weight to my hunch that John's father
Lachlan, Rory, Euphemia and Murdoch's mother Mary were siblings. The mystery is how Lachlan ended up in Central New York by 1830. Mr. Bill Lawson tells me that that's rather unusual. We think they may have come to Cape Breton first. Anyway, thank you again! If anyone would like more info, or has info to share, email me at LAMBJOHNSON@yahoo.com. I am proud to be distantly related to the MacVicars! What a great history. : ) Laurie

Well, I'm glad someone appreciates my "playing". It always needs work. Well Jay, I had a ball the other night too. It was the first time I met most of the people there, and I hope we can all do it again; and it was good talking too, I'm glad we got to know each other just that little bit more. I'll have to relay through Dad the next time I, or we are over and we could plan something. Maybe another "It's A Secret" MMmmmmm..... Anywho, It's early and my head is killng me. Living in a house with 3 shepards, one cockatoo, three cats and 4 kittens, when you're allergic to all of the above.......SUCKS!! Ciau all, have fun in whatever and everything.

Jason McVicar on August 28, 2003

Hi, Jason McVicar and thank you for visiting our family site. I hope you get time to go through the family history and see if you have a conection with us. I have never met anyone that also went by the same name as myself (Jason McVicar). Thanks for dropping in! Jason

Jason McVicar on August 30, 2003

Hey Brian and whoever else happens to look at this. Just wanted to say two quick things, Brian. First off, I thought you said that my website link didnt work anymore? Seems to work fine now... oh well, the the other thing was that you should probably change my email address in "Extended Family Contacts" from DanimeDragon@msn.com to FrenziedSoul@HotMail.com. Just noticed that and figured I should tell ya. Thanks, and keep this website goin'. It's awesome!

Daniel Arsenault on August 30, 2003

Hey Dan, how are ya'? I fixed the addy on the contacts page....thanks for the up-date. When I checked the link you gave me for your site this is what I get... "Your URL is an Unreliable Resource Locator. Actually, we couldn't find the page you requested. Please check the URL." Perhaps if you e-mail the addy to me I can check it against what we have on our link page and adjust it. Glad you came by. Talk soon bud.

Brianm on September 15, 2003

Hiya, Brian! Thanks so much for stopping by my current site! Also for the great compliments - I'll take all I can get, lol! :D I had no idea you were the 'infamous' EmuGod!!! I thought EG was a 17 year old with his first computer. :P Well, 17 at heart, right? ;) Your site is looking wonderful. I enjoy reading about your family & its history. The photos are wonderful (esp. your cruise photos - how beautiful!). I'll have to check out the recipes later - I've not yet had breakfast, so they will make me TOO hungry! I DID check out the Brian's Belly link, though - thought it was another of your sites - TOO FUNNY! ("I AM CAVE MAN - I EAT MEAT!"):D I started a message board right after CitySlide1 went down. Sent out mails to everyone I had an address for & it was popular for a while, but then everyone lost interest. Part of the problem was that the server was bad - either got Page Not Found or Site Doesn't Exist or it was very slow to load. So, about a month ago, I started yet another, that loads super fast. IrocAngel just found us last week. So far, we've had Jenn, Vicki (Fred & Geek site - Fred died a year ago), Terry (Terry-Patti), Shaggy & Jamesf83, as well as TopCat/CatAvenger. When I stopped by the site to copy the address to leave here, I saw that Jenn had just posted that TC was in a bad accident a few weeks ago. You can find all the details there. Here is the address: http://www.xsorbit2.com/users/cityslid2/index.cgi?board= I hope to see you & all sorts of assorted McVicars (and Emus & Llamas, lol) there. :D Big Soggy Houston Hugs from Peggy. :)

Pegs on September 21, 2003

Thanks Pegs...hugs to you to. I was over to the board..GREAT! It is nice to catch up on on the old 'sliders'. I sure do miss the old community board. Sorry to hear about Shel, I hope everything works out ok for him. I will be over to the board often. Any old 'citysliders' out there You have to check this out http://www.xsorbit2.com/users/cityslid2/index.cgi?board It's the old gang. See you there...

Well, hello all. I was surfing on the world wide web, and crashed on this rock, figured I'd leave a small note. Well I'm a short distance from the life of a full time military member. I need to go in for my physical on the 2nd of Oct, then sit before a review board on the 30th. We'll see how things go... Well, my mother got married last month, to another drummer (the noice, oh the noice is back). But it's all good. Right now I'm at home for a bit before I go back to Halifax. Killing time, and improving my typing speed, YEE HAW! Site looks great, and it still surprises how it has streched so far. It's good to know that other people are keeping track of our family, or even just to flip though the pages. I'll be around again soon. Ciau

Hello again Ann. Good to see you back. As you have seen the site is rolling right along. Have you been able to make some connections from the family history page? I hope so. Perhaps you could send me an e-mail, or post here what you may have found. We have had some visitors from Scotland, but it's hard to tell who they are if they don't sign the guest book. We look forward to seeing some of your family members visit. Thanks for coming back and making yourself at home.....talk soon.

Brainm on October 2, 2003

Hey all. Well, it still amazes me to see people from all over stumble across the site and leave messages. I think it's really cool. Well, as all of you know, the Hurricaine that swept through created quite the little mess in Nova Scotia. Halifax was hit so hard that it declared a state of emergency and called in the military to lend a helping hand. I had about 45 minutes notice to go, and ended up staying in a HUGE building, The Halifax Armoury, for a week sleeping sholder to sholder with about 150 other troops from all over. The city was an absolute mess. I was on backshift for the last 4 nights, 6 to 6, and all told my section cleared about 35 streets and lifted just about to 1000 tones of branches and trunks. Talk about a long week. Anyway, I'm home now, and things are finding their old routine again. I am stil 1 and a half steps away from The Navy, and just found out my course starts in Sept 2004. Till then, I'll likely be doing nothing work; and extra body so to say. Other than that, things remain unchanged. If anything cool happens from now till then, I'll be back. Later guys.

mark on October 16, 2003

Well, you know Mark, the McVicar's can often make claims that may be false without any backing for such claims. It tis without a doubt one of the more complicated and frustrating families I have ever encountered. However, if you know who and what you are and are secure in that knowledge, this kinda stuff will slide away like water on a ducks back. Have a great day ~

Kristal on October 16, 2003

Hi - Enjoyed your site immensely and have bookmarked it to come back to. My g-g-g-grandfather, Angus MacDonald "An Saor Mor" aka the "Big Carpenter" came from North Uist, Scotland on the ship the Commerce in August 1828 and settled in Loch Lomond with his wife Margaret and nine children. Perhaps we're related somewhere, I know there are MacVicars in my tree so I'll just have to take some time and compare our "trees" to find out. Thanks, Pat

I am very happy Dad finally had the chance to add to the guest book. I really do think he should have a computer...he would pick it up in no time at all i'm sure. When he was here he left quite a bit of info for me to add to the site. Glad it's coming on winter......i'll need the time for sure. Over the next few months I hope to add a lot of pics he lent to me as well as a lot of info we will try to incorporate into what we have now. He also left a lot of stuff on 'old 42'....just have to come up with the time to get it organized. I should be able to get into it a lot more after Christmas.

Lee Norris on November 24, 2003

Hello again everyone! If you haven't guessed already, I got an other chance to drop in. I founf out some interesting news the other day. I was talking to a girl in one of my classes and she said asked me what my last name was. I told her that my last name was McVicar and she got really excited...I got worried...lol. She said that her boyfriend's last name was McVicar and that his family was the only McVicars that he knew of. She said that he was from Cape Breton. I founf that kinda funny. I asked her what part and she said that he was originally from Glace Bay. This was just too weird now. I asked her what his parent names were. Their names were Ross and Eileen MacVicar. Didn't ring a bell, but I asked my mother and it turns out that me and her boyfriend (Duncan MacVicar) are 3rd cousins!...small world, eh? I just thought that was kinda cool. But anyway, that's all my really big news other than the fact that I have moved out of my mother's place! I am currantly residing in the beautiful town of New Glasgow. I like it a lot so far. But I've only been there for like 2 or 3 days, lol. But anyway, I must be going. You know, places to see, people to go...

Hi Brian and all, It is only since I last visited your message box that I went trawling through the Ellis Island records, now on the internet, and ruined my story about my GGF. There he was passing through New York after a visit to Scotland in 1911 aged 61. All I have to do now is find the back up for all my website data which seems to have mysteriously disappeared since my last computer crash and rebuild. This wonderful world of Cyberspace certainly keeps me busy. Hello! It's been awhile since I've visited your site. I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome Mr. Brian? Mcvickers by any spelling are cool people. I was thrilled with the information I found on your site. I can't seem to find documented records past Captain Duncan McVicker but find info of Archibald and Florence McVicar listed as his parents and James Archibald Mcvicar married to a Catherine Munroe as his grandparents. There seems to be some confusion on the order of the names, I don't know what resources I can use to dig deeper, can you help? Thank you, your site is uplifting. Judith

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to thank everyone for coming to mom and Dad's party. They are still very excited about it.It was great that Bob and his family and Jason and his could make it. It really ment a great deal to them to see all of you there. They have been great to me over the years and I just couldn't let such a special occasion go by without doing something very special for them. They certainly deserve a special night like they had. It was great for me to see all of you guies too. I haven't seen some of you for quite awhile. We were out with Trina and Peter last night that Trina can't hold her booze very well.Peter kept telling her to slow down, but you know how she is. Ha! Ha! Thanks again. I think this sight is vert cool.Happy New Year to everyone. Cora Lee

Hi Brian, Interesting site. Your early Scotland McVicar's are very similar to what I believe are our ancestors. Our first pioneer was Angus McVicar who settled in Pictou county around 1809. He was a decendant of Donald "Big" (Am Piocair Mor) Keep up the good work. Donnie

Donald C MacVicar on January 2, 2004

Hi, Donnie MacVicar put me onto this site. It is really nice! I descend from a Roderick MacVicar who came to Cape Breton in the 1820's. He was married to either a Kirsty or a Mary. Not sure. He had at least 7 children and they were settled near Catalone. He shows up in the census for 1838. My gr grandmother, Flora MacVicar MacKeigan born about 1840-1845, was his daughter, and I have all the information on her children but none on her parents or her brothers and sisters. Apparently this family moved away from Catalone before the 1861 census because they are not shown to be in the area after taht time, though Flora and her family continued to live at Bengal. It was suggested to me that Roderick may have been a brother to Neil MacVicar of Vallay, but we hve nothing on this for certain. I believe, from one set of information that I have seen that Roderick's father may have been a Donald. Are there any MacVicars out there who may be related to this family? Surely some of the children married and had families. Thanks in advance for any information you might have. Judy It was suggested to me that

WOW!! It's great to see so many people visiting our site these days and posting here. We are very happy to see every one of you. Spread the word..you never know who will find something here they have been looking for.
@Jere..good to see you back...it's been a while...I think. I don't really know how often you check in, but, it's great that you do. Thanks. Here's hoping you have a good year ahead.

@The Murrins....hope you too have a great year..thanks for stopping in.

@Sandra....nice to see you back....take the pics over any time and we will post them asap. I take it the pile beside me is from you as well...lol. I'll do what I can.

@Kim....I'm sure it wasn't hard for the 'clan' to make you feel at home. You seemed to fit right in even in the summer. Have a good year girl. Hope to see you soon.

@Sis & Gerald.....so glad everything went well for you two. Sorry we couldn't make it, but hope to see you soon.

@Cora Lee....I'm so glad everything went well. It seems to me everyone chipped in and helped make it every bit what you were expecting. Great to see you on the site and we hope you come in often. Hope to hear from you again soon. Drop me an email sometime.

@Donald & Judy....Welcome to our site. We're glad you not only found us, but that you enjoyed the site. There is a lot of info here and we hope it's helpful to you. I know it is long, but the family history is on the last page of the site. There are also some useful links on the links page. We hear from McVicars/MacVicars/Macvickers..(& so on)...from all over the world. It is so amazing they find us. It is a real blast for us. However, it does get a little hard to keep up with sometimes. If you have any info you think we should be showing please let us know. If you have the time please see if you can find your family in the family history on this site....& if you find it could you tell us so we can make the connections. We hope you two come back often....keep us posted. Also, if you come across any other sites you think we should see...come in and let us know.....Thanks for coming.

My my my there has been alot going on since my last visit. I do hope that the drama with this mark fellow has been sorted. If some jigs are jugs, and some jugs are jags, is it safe to say that some jigs are jags?

Hello Dinkidi....so very glad top see you stop in. Thanks for the kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your visit to our site. We would love to see you come back often...perhaps tell us a bit about yourself.
@'He who walks without a limp'...good to see you back....it has been a while for sure. It must be 4 months or so. Yes, the 'drama' has been quite taken care of. "If some jigs are jugs, and some jugs are jags, is it safe to say that some jigs are jags?" Safe....save for the jugs.

Vernon Murrin on January 16, 2004

Hey Vernon....don't sell yourself short. You don't have to be married for 50 years to have a "Welcome Murrin Family and Friends" site. You could do this no problem. Just takes time, patience and a helpful family.

Well, I am back. Not in the great city of Halifax but on the site for a bit.As you all know I am still in the everlasting process of joining regular force military. It seems every time I think I'm 2 steps away, they add another step. I'm no further away from getting in, but no closer at the same time, if that makes any sence. I am in Halifax for a few days now, this being the second last. I had to come to the city to redue, yet again, my medical to advance my progress another step closer. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to do it, as it was my 3rd attempt. (Don't ask me why....) Anywho, site looks better and better everytime I see it, fireplace looks wicked Dad, awesome job. I'll try to come back soon, and let ya'll know of my military news. Keep on keepin on. Ciau Lee

Hi everyone I hope everyone is staying warm. It is dam cold out there. I am truly amazed at the people who visit this sight. It is very global. I wonder if we can go and visit some of these long lost kin. I always wanted to go to Australia until I heard they have 7 out of 10 of the most poisones snakes in the world now I'm reconsidering. I love all the pictures on this sight it really takes me back. Christmas eve was always such fun. Remember the box above Grams front door she would tell us if we ate all our supper there was a treat in there for us and we always fell for it. I think it actually had the power meter in it. When we moved into that house i remember being very disappointed when I looked in it. Type to you soon. Cora Lee

Cora Lee Murrin-Beauchamp on January 30, 2004

Hello again Cora Lee, it's great to see you back. I'm glad you like the site. As for how many people come here, and from where, it is even more and further than you may think. We average around 17-18 visitors a day, some visiting several times a day. People from all over the world come in. It is very cool to see the list of countries. I don't know of a country that has not been in. I am in the process of doing up a 'family photo history' page. I have Grams old 'scrap' books and am try to get through them. Watch for it, it should be interesting for sure.

-Well Hello everyone, yes I am alive! It took a little while to get out of my house because of all the snow, but here I am, back in school!....joy...Anyway, yeah I got a lot of snow. I haven't seen this much snow at my house since I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was kinda cool though. Lee and I went venturing out into the blizzard when it was at it's full peak. Well it felt like venturing anyway. I only made it to the road and I had to crawl most of the way. We didn't stay out too long, just long enough to dig a couple of tunnels and then go in where it was warm. We were snowed in for a while (duh)Our car was pretty well buried. I also heard (whether it be true or not, I don't know) that we will be getting about 30 more cm tomorrow.....oh..my...god...So this is probably my fair well message. It was good to know you all. Dad, Gloria, I love you. If I make it out, I'll give you a shout. Talk to you all soon....hopefully.

Somewhere along the lines of family history ...there was a relation to the MacVicar's of Loch lomond. Edna MacVicar was one, and Christine MacVicar made the best darn fudge in Cape Breton. I believe she is still living. Donald MacVicar was also a large part of the Loch Lomond community until his home burned down around the late 70's. If you want further information on my side of the family or to just say hello...contact me at : nuclearexplosion2001@hotmail.com P.S. I am currently reviving the Loch Lomond Community Cookbook of 1978 ... which contains the recipes of Christine MacVicar as well well as many other treasured residents of Loch Lomond. These recipes are the foods I and everyone else in Loch Lomond grew up on. They were served at card games, dances, funerals, weddings, bake sales, fundraisers, and much , much more. I love all of the traditions and experiences I had growing up in such a close knit community. That is what makes me ...me!

-Hello, It's great reading about this history. I'm having to start all over with a good bit of my stored genealogy information thanks to a virus or two and my lack of computer skills. The files were erased and the computer is in the shop. Your site gives me back alot. thank you, judith ann

-Well, to start off with Hi. I was on here the other day looking at the pics and such when I came across all the info on the border closer(to live animals). As a farm girl i was really touched to see the support!! It made me feel good to know that there are people out there who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to that subject! Thank you muchly, too bad more people couldn't be like you! BTW great site, lots of pics and info.

-How she goin Dad?? Bet you didn't expect to hear from me. Right now I'm in Gagetown, NB, doing my Primary Leadership Qualification course, (PLQ) and it's not too bad. We have a 3-4 klm run every morning at around 5:15, learn all about how to be a leader for the younger troops, and we are all in the process of making a lot of new friends... Speaking of which, guess what I found here in Gagetown on course with me?? Another McVicar!! The first on I've ever met that was my age, and in the military. Crazy, if you ask me! His name is Ryan McVicar (spelled the same), and either his father or his grandfather's name is Sonny McVicar. His brewd of people are all from St. George New Brunswick. I don't know a whole lot about him, (except for the fact that his sisters name is.... you guessed it, Candace.)but I've told him about the site, and he seems eager to get on and have a look for himself. Anyway, back to me (lol). I will be here in NB until the 21st of May, then I have 5 days off, then come back for another course that lasts until June 18th. After that I will be thrown on as an instructor for a "brand new troopy" course, and go to an exercise after that called Arcon. My first bit of free time will come after August 29th sometime. Moses.... just have to keep my nose in the books, and my feet in the mud for the next little while. Anyway, I must go, I think I've written plenty. Say hey to everyone for me, and have a nice summer. BTW, pics of St. Paddy's day..... too funny. Later all...

-First glance indicates I may be able to learn more about my mother's family. We migrated to Australia in 1820's and have a letter from The Cameron of Locheil stating we are free settlers. From this we always thought we were a sept of the Camerons. Great news I hope to find out more. Maybe I can link my site with yours? wwww.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~aussiegarlings

-Thanks for the kind words Neil..we're very glad you enjoyed your visit to our site. We are very proud of the photos we have and hope to have more very soon. Come back often and tell others.

-To Mr.Ian Robert McVicar Garling....Very nice to see you stop by. Yes, it seems the Camerons do play quite a large part in our history. I hope you are able to find the connections you are looking for. I think it would be a great idea to link the sites....however, I did try the 'URL' you posted and was not able to reach your site. Perhaps we could email each other and see if we can figure it out. I would like very much to have an 'open' link back and forth between the two.
